U.S. seeks to ease India's Afghan fears, backs Pakistan (Reuters)

Reuters - India has a legitimate role to play in stabilizing Afghanistan but peace can not be brought to the region without help from its nuclear-armed rival Pakistan, U.S. envoy Richard Holbrooke said on Thursday.
